Women are urgently in need of risk management tools.
Women play an important role in economic development in emerging economies, yet are far more likely than men to be excluded from formal financial services and are disproportionately impacted by poor health and climate change. This leaves women urgently in need of risk management tools.
However, products tailored to meet the specific needs of women are scarce. Lack of access, poor awareness and financial illiteracy all hinder the economic empowerment of women.
What exactly are the current gender gaps that exist and what efforts are being made to address them and bring much-needed solutions to women to build their resilience? What concrete opportunities lie in store for meaningful change and how can the inclusive insurance ecosystem help to move this forward?
This Microinsurance Network (MiN) expert forum, featuring Norma Alicia Rosas-Rodriguez, Susan K. Neely, Doris Bisaro and Francisco Astalarra, will tackle these questions.
