Philippines
Community-based disaster risk reduction programs and livelihoods support are building resilience to natural disasters in the Philippines.
Because of its location, the Philippines is highly vulnerable to typhoons that trigger landslides and flooding, and to volcanic and seismic activity. Donor activities focus on supporting community-based disaster risk reduction programs, especially in informal urban settlements; constructing flood-resilient infrastructure; and improving early warning systems. Livelihoods support further builds resilience at the household, community, and municipal level by providing training to enable farming and fishing households to diversify their incomes and increase savings.
