( https://www.linkedin.com/in/annettescarpitta/ ). We work in remote post-conflict communities in S. Kivu, eastern DRC, to build community-led development – including long-term peace keeping and economic training and development. Uvira Territory is prone to natural disasters and resulting IDPs and food insecurity. We could really benefit from these geo-spatial tools. Can you please point me to an appropriate POC in DRC, specifically Uvira territory, S. Kivu province? I need to go to another meeting but encourage you to contact me through LI. Thanks. 01:14:18 Galel Lopez: In terms of the Best Digital GIS Practices. On the question whether the farmers are among the beneficiaries of our technologies. The answer is yes. For example, in Sri Lanka our tools were used by the Ministry of Agriculture to track whether the farmers received fertilizers during the emergency response. They used the digital tools to scan IDs and provide information on whether or not farmers received the allocated amount of fertilizers and in which locations. 01:22:15 Bahar Salimova: To Roland Steinmann on the question whether GEMS is a ready-made tool. Thank you for asking. We are not a tool but rather a capacity development program. We use tools such as KoboToolbox, Powerbi, ArcGIS, etc to build capacity on the ground to understand development effects and have more granular understanding of issues and projects. We have a standardized approach and methods, but we customize our engagements depending on the country and client situation and capacity to ensure greater ownership and uptake. 01:22:33 Andrew Banda: Bahar the above answer has insights on the effective use of the platform 01:24:36 Andrew Banda: Are these tools readily available? 01:25:45 Mika'il Daya: Thank you for the insightful presentations, My name is Mika’il Haruna DAYA from Nigeria, lets connect on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/mikailharunadaya05168984 01:26:08 Mika'il Daya: linkedin.com/in/mikailharunadaya05168984 01:26:16 Phakamani Sithole: It would be nice to have indices which are simpler especially for the communities or rural farmer 01:30:17 Bahar Salimova: To Mulugeta's question, technically KoboToolbox can visualize the data s well, which is an open-source tool. Many of our clients end up using it to visualize and even analyze the data sources. When the data analysis becomes more scaled up and government has capacity and desire to get a more sophisticated to, we help with PowerBI, which is a Microsoft tool and as we know many agencies heavily use Microsoft. 01:30:42 Carmelle Terborgh: Dear Andrew, I work for Esri and can get you information on ArcGIS. Please feel free to reach out at cterborgh@esri.com Congrats to SERVIR and AGHYRMET! Decades of important work! 01:32:48 Bahar Salimova: To Khalif on whether smallholder farmers understand the GIS technology and use it - the answer is that we use simple technologies such as phones to take pictures and geo-locate activities. This helps with easiness of adoption even among those who may not be tech savvy. 01:35:12 Sahi Ibrahim SOUMAHORO: Hello to all, Im sahi a geospatial project for TechnoServe CIV. 01:35:21 Sahi Ibrahim SOUMAHORO: The government of Cote d’Ivoire has a goal of increasing the domestic processing of raw cashew nuts to 50%. TechnoServe (TNS) is supporting this strategic objective through the Prosper Cashew program, funded by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). The goal of the Prosper Cashew project is to be in line with the Ivorian government's objective thereby increasing the number of jobs, wealth and improving the living conditions. TechnoServe Labs is developing tools and solutions to assist the Prosper Cashew program, using remote sensing and machine learning technology to map cashew-growing plantations across West Africa 01:38:57 Sahi Ibrahim SOUMAHORO: I will be glad to share with you the innovative technologies we are using with the help of remote sensing and machine learning tehnology (deep learning) to map cashew growing plantations across West Africa. 01:38:58 Rame Gowda: Good information and Excellent presentation by Dr. S. In our experience it takes two sets of communications for a given tool or practice to do it well. One size generally hasn't fit all in this regard - at least in our experiences with geospatial and digital tools. Happy to share our experiences with those interested. 02:02:50 Zahiduzzaman Syeed: Young are our future 02:03:22 Jayme Charles: Visit the new SERVIR site! https://servirglobal.net/ 02:03:41 Michael Saltz: Read more about geospatial tech on Agrilinks: https://agrilinks.org/theme-month-collections/geospatial-technology-and-analytics-theme-month-2023 02:03:59 Naomi Sakane: Thank you everyone for the insightful discussions. 02:04:18 BAKO Mamane: 👏 02:04:37 vilas jorj: Thank you all speakers for the valuable insights... 02:04:43 Gina Choquehuanca: Thanks so much to all the speakers!
