Migration is a common adaptive strategy for managing seasonal hunger for millions of people every year. Although potentially quite risky, migration can also allow people to diversify their income by working in different sectors with different exposure to risk, and taking advantage of seasonal agricultural production cycles. Remittances sent home by migrants form an important source of resilience for many households. Systems that support and protect migrants could help strengthen resilience both for individual migrants and the households they support.
