What Role Can Social Protection Systems Play In Responding to Humanitarian Emergencies?
Oxford Policy Management; UK Aid, Overseas Development Institute, Cash Learning Partnership and INASP
What are the constraints to social protection systems being more responsive to shocks and what factors would enable systems to become more responsive to shocks?
This video showcases insights from a global study, Shock-Responsive Social Protection Systems (SRSP). The study aims to strengthen the evidence base as to when and how social protection systems can better respond to shocks (such as droughts, floods or economic crises) in low-income countries and fragile and conflict-affected states, so that the negative impacts of shocks are reduced and there is less need for separate humanitarian responses.
